Nutrition Network for Wales
The need for a Nutrition Network for Wales was identified by stakeholders during the development of Food and Well Being, the nutrition strategy for Wales.
As a result of this need, there was an action in the strategy for FSA Wales and the Wales Centre for Health to develop such a Network as a means of providing information to key players, including health professionals, policy decision makers, teachers, voluntary organisations and others working to improve diet, health and well being in Wales.
The Network is now a reality. The bilingual website for the Network was launched at the Food and Well Being Nutrition Network conference in Newport on 15 June 2006, and is on-line at the links below.
The website is a 'one stop shop', a place where a range of nutrition and healthy eating information can be found at the touch of a button, including:
- latest news and hot topics
- details of events and training opportunities
- research and surveys
- national and local policy and strategy
- advice and guidance on healthy eating schools, and much more
There is also a fully searchable database of over 300 community food initiatives in Wales and a resources database containing more than 250 resources, many of which can be downloaded for free. The Network is also a platform for communication, enabling partners to share information and good practice and linking and supporting key players working to improve diet in Wales.
As a registered partner of the Network you'll receive the monthly e-bulletin, E-Nutrition Network News and invitations to networking events. You can become a partner on the website or contact Rebecca on telephone number 02920 227744 or email Rebecca.Firks@wch.wales.nhs.uk
