Food Standards Agency consults on draft Welsh Language scheme
Friday 19 October 2001
The Food Standards Agency has prepared a Welsh Language Scheme setting out how it proposes to deliver services in Welsh. Comments from Welsh speaking and other members of the public who may be affected by the scheme are invited.
Advertisements alerting people to the consultation have been printed in regional newspapers, and copies of the document have been placed for viewing at main libraries, post offices and Citizens Advice Bureaux in Wales. The draft scheme is also available direct from the Food Standards Agency Wales (see notes to Editors).
Comments on the scheme should be sent to the Food Standards Agency Wales no later than Friday 30 November. A report based upon these views will be submitted with the final Scheme to the Welsh Language Board for approval.
Joy Whinney, the FSA's Director Wales, said: "The FSA is committed to providing services in Welsh, and to integrate the language into our everyday operations. Our draft Welsh Language Scheme sets out how we intend to do that, and we welcome comments so that they can be incorporated into the final scheme we submit for approval to the Welsh Language Board."
