Agency publishes presentations from Euro funding Information Day
Friday 18 July 2008
More than 130 people attended a seminar in Birmingham in July to find out details of funding opportunities and on-going research projects under the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
The presentations to the seminar held on Friday 4 July at Aston University are now available on the Agency’s website.
The event was organised by DEFRA in collaboration with the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Natural Environment Research Council and the Food Standards Agency. It explored the opportunities available under the FP7 programme, its main funding for scientific research.
This funding programme has a budget of more than €50 billion between 2007 and 2013, the largest funding allocation yet for such programmes.
The seminar focused on developments so far, as well as future priorities for two particular funding streams under the programme – ‘Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and Biotechnology’ and ‘Environment, including Climate Change’.
It also looked at the European Cooperation in the field of Science and Technology, Marie Curie and current ERANET call opportunities.
Among the speakers were: Tim Hall from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research; David Coates and Mike Collins from Defra; and Jessica Mitchell, European Advisor at the Brussels-based UK Research Office, which offers advice on EU funding opportunities.
