Radiological emergencies research programme (C05) - list of projects
Information about Agency-funded research projects.
C05026: Review of the potential for waste solvents, from current or historic disposal sites, to enter the food chain
This research project is a literature review of the fate of chlorinated solvents released into soil, and their potential to transfer to the food chain.
Results available.
C05027: Scoping study on the impact of a variety of watercourse pollution incidents (non-radioactive) on food safety
This research project aims to review the types and frequency of water pollution incidents in the UK and to outline methods of objective assessment of their consequences.
Results available.
C05030: Development of a rapid method for assessing the impact of scrap, tyre and other fires on agricultural land
This research project aims to produce an atmospheric dispersion model for predicting the dispersion of smoke from fires and the resulting deposition onto crops and pasture.
C05032: Recovery handbook for UK nuclear accidents
This research project will produce a recovery handbook to guide decision makers through available recovery options in the event of a radiation incident.
Results available.
C05033: Prediction of temporal changes in the Chernobyl restricted area of Wales and the effect changing intervention levels would have on the restricted areas of Cumbria and Wales
This research project will produce computer model predictions of the duration of Chernobyl restrictions on the movement, sale and slaughter of sheep in North Wales. Predictions will also be made of the potential changes to the size of the restricted area in Cumbria and Wales if the limit for radioactive contamination in sheep meat is altered.
Results available.
C05034: Development of training Modules in Nuclear Emergency Response Roles
This research project aims to produce a series of training modules that can be used to assist in training new staff and enhance skills in existing staff who may be required to respond to a nuclear emergency.
C05036: ADMS-STAR Development: A Short Range Emergency Response Atmospheric Dispersion Model
This research project will modify the existing ADMS (atmospheric dispersion modelling system) for use in predicting accidental releases.
Results available.
