Evaluation of the Foodborne Disease Strategy

The Agency has conducted a preliminary independent evaluation of the effectiveness of the strategies and campaign activities undertaken to achieve its target to reduce the incidence of foodborne disease in the UK by 20% by April 2006.
The evaluation was conducted between December 2005 and February 2006 to evaluate: the impact and effectiveness of the strategy�s work on increasing public awareness of food hygiene messages and food poisoning; its contribution towards reaching the target to reduce foodborne disease; and to identify areas/initiatives that had the greatest impact on the strategy in terms of reducing foodborne disease.
