Request for European co-ordination of activities on acrylamide in food
Thursday 3 July 2003
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) Advisory Forum is considering a request for EFSA to take a lead in the co-ordination of activities on acrylamide in Europe at its meeting on 4 July 2003.
The request is in the form of a paper developed by the Food Standards Agency in consultation with stakeholders across Europe.
The paper follows a workshop on acrylamide research, held by the Dutch Food and Non-food Authority (VWA), Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the EU (CIAA), and the Food Standards Agency, in March 2003.
This workshop concluded that there was a need for the co-ordination of research and information to avoid unproductive duplication of effort and ensure gaps are being recognised and addressed.
