Eat Natural recalls cereal
Thursday 21 August 2008
Eat Natural has recalled some of its Crunchy Toastcrumbs Oats Honey and Coconut cereal (450g), because the product contains hazelnuts, which are not mentioned on the label, resulting in incorrect allergen information. This means the product is a possible health risk for individuals with an allergy to hazelnuts.
The Agency has issued an Allergy Alert advising anyone who is allergic to hazelnuts not to eat this product.
Product details
The product being recalled is:
- Eat Natural Crunchy Toastcrumbs Oats Honey and Coconut cereal, 450g
- Best before: February 2009
- Batch codes: 14feb09, 15feb09, 16feb09, 29feb09
Eat Natural has withdrawn the affected batches, which were only on sale in Asda stores. No other Eat Natural products are known to be affected.
Allergy Alerts
Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.
In such situations the Agency will issue an Allergy Alert. It is also possible to subscribe to an email alert system to receive automatic messages whenever Allergy Alerts are issued. Click on 'Get alerts' in the box at the bottom of this page to find more details.
You can get details of all the latest allergy alerts as soon as they're issued by getting the details sent as a SMS text message direct to your mobile phone.
