'Eat Well: Getting the Balance Right' Nutrition Conferences
Wednesday 16 May 2007
Food Standards Agency Wales is to hold the 2007 'Food and Well Being' Nutrition Strategy conferences in June.
Much has been done over the last four years by all those working to improve diet, and these conferences will give an overview of the evaluation of the current picture in Wales and how the Food and Well Being Strategy, launched in February 2003, has impacted. There will also be a review of the upcoming Quality of Food Strategy, to be launched for consultation this summer by the Welsh Assembly Government. This strategy will join up healthy eating with sustainable development, urban and rural regeneration and other policies to tackle inequalities in health.
The Conferences will also be an opportunity to recognise the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm shown by those engaged in community projects across Wales which promote better diet. Ten such projects will be presented with an AFAL Award for Food Action Locally.
The events will take place on 14 June at NEWI (North East Wales Institute of Higher Education) Wrexham and on 26 June at the Angel Hotel, Cardiff. These conferences are free of charge to attend and include lunch.
