Meat Hygiene Service Board
The functions of the MHS Board, a sub-committee of the FSA Board, are to give strategic direction to the MHS within the overall strategy agreed by the FSA Board; and to set appropriate targets for the MHS and monitor its performance and hold it to account on behalf of the FSA Board.
The MHS Board also has an important role in guiding and driving through the changes needed to transform the MHS into a more efficient organisation. In recognition of the importance of this role, the MHS Board is a formal sub-committee of the FSA Board (previously it was an advisory sub-committee), and includes Steve McGrath, MHS Chief Executive, and the Chief Veterinary Officer. The MHS Board is chaired by Ian Reynolds, Deputy Chair of the FSA Board.
