Executive Summary
The authority was particularly strong at meeting its inspection targets with regard to food hygiene and food standards. It was also effective in carrying out investigations when reactive work identified issues of concern. Devising and implementing an effective internal monitoring system will greatly assist in improving the areas where the authority is less capable, such as elements of its enforcement activity.
A lack of activity by the authority in relation to feedingstuffs leaves a serious gap in the approach to food enforcement across the whole food chain and requires addressing in a number of areas against the standard.
