Executive Summary
It was clear that the Authority actively supported the HAP and had 4 formal agreements in place with local based food businesses. File checks confirmed that the Authority was considering the HAP when carrying out food safety and standards enforcement work. In addition, where referrals had been received from other local authorities these were properly investigated and followed up.
It was evident that the Authority was proactive in assisting businesses and was actively promoting food safety and standards with a range of diverse activities targeted towards the needs of the local community.
The Authoritys approach to advisory and promotional work was effective and well managed, involving all relevant staff and providing them with the time and support needed to carry out projects.
At the time of the audit there was no feedingstuffs law enforcement activity undertaken at the Authority. A project to identify likely premises was scheduled to take place later in 2005 and it was intended that these premises would be offered advice when visited.
