Focused audits
The FSA has undertaken a number of focused audit programmes on a particular aspect of enforcement work in a selection of local authorities.
In each programme the authorities were selected to represent a cross-section of local authority types and geographical location.
After each programme is complete, a summary report is produced and published.

The Agency is carrying out a programme of focused audits on local authorities' arrangements for food premises database management, food premises inspections and internal monitoring.
Control and investigation of outbreaks of food related infectious disease audit
The Food Standards Agency Wales audit reviewed the arrangements that the 22 local authorities in Wales had in place to ensure the control and investigation of outbreaks of food related infectious disease.

The Food Standards Agency has completed a programme of focused audits in 30 local authorities looking specifically at their Home Authority arrangements, advice to business and food and feeding stuffs safety and standards promotion.
Imported feed and food controls audits
The Agency is carrying out a programme of focused audits on a number of authorities with ports/points of entry in their area, as well as authorities with significant imported food business operators.

The Agency has carried out a programme of focused audits of local authorities and port health authorities, which looked specifically at their arrangements for controls on imported food of non-animal origin.
Internal monitoring audits
The Agency has published the findings of a programme of focused audits of local authorities, which specifically looked at their arrangements for internal monitoring and external review, including inter-authority audits (IAA).
Local authority official controls in approved dairy establishments carrying out cheese recovery in England audit
These audits were planned to assess the effectiveness of local authority systems for approval of dairy establishments and the effectiveness of routine official controls in approved dairy establishments, with particular focus on establishments involved in handling and processing down-grade and/or mould contaminated cheese.
Local authority official controls in approved meat products establishments audits
The Agency will be carrying out a programme of audits to assess the effectiveness of official controls implemented by local authorities at approved meat products and minced meat preparation establishments.
Specified Risk Material controls audits
A report of an audit programme in Great Britain developed by the Agency to gain assurance that the Specified Risk Material (SRM) and vertebral column (VC) official controls implemented by the Meat Hygiene Service (MHS) and local authorities in approved and authorised premises were effective and that food business operators’ (FBO) SRM and animal by-products (ABP) controls were effective.
Statistical monitoring audits
The Agency has completed a programme of focused audits of local authorities, which looked specifically at their arrangements for providing statistical monitoring returns on food law enforcement activity.
