Inverawe smokehouses product recall of smoked trout due to a processing fault

Heads of Environmental Health and Directors of Trading standards will wish to be aware that Inverawe Smokehouses, Taynuilt, Argyll have recalled a batch of smoked trout which may not be safe to consume due to a processing fault, which may allow bacterial growth to occur. The product has been sold to outlets in Scotland and England.

Distribution of the Product
The company has provided a distribution list for the outlets that receive Whole smoked Trout and Whole smoked trout fillets, which is annexed to this Food Alert and only accessible via EHCnet and TS Interlink.
The company have undertaken a product recall, issued a press statement and arranged for point of sale notices to be displayed at the identified retail outlets. It is possible that consumers may have frozen the product at home to eat at a later date. Consumers are advised not to eat the product and discard or return it to the manufacturer.

Inverawe Smokehouses are recalling batch 1865 Whole Smoked Trout and Smoked Trout Fillets, sold through retail outlets nationwide. Both products are sold as variable weight. The use by dates on the product is between 9 to 23 December 2004. Due to a processing fault, the product does not meet our usual high standard, and must not be eaten. Please discard any packs and a full credit will be given by Inverawe Smokehouses. This recall does not effect products sold through Inverawe Smokehouses Mail Order operation.
