Heads of Environmental Health Services and Directors of Trading Standards will wish to be aware that the Food Standards Agency (FSA) is advising people not to eat three varieties of novelty liquid sweets - Roll on King, Spray King, and Tuby Acid - manufactured by King Regal in Spain.
The sweets have caused burns to the mouths of 5 Spanish children, and other effects such as a stinging sensation to lips and tongue, and irritation to taste buds.
At least one of the products, Roll on King, has been imported in to the UK.
The importer has distributed the product, and it has then been sold through Hancocks Cash & Carries outlets, primarily to smaller shops across England and Scotland.
The product is available in four flavours:
- Blue Raspberry
- Strawberry
- Apple Green
- Watermelon
The Company has agreed to withdraw the product from sale.
The FSA has issued a press release warning parents to avoid King Regal Brand of novelty liquid sweets.
