Bovine products regulations 2007
Friday 6 July 2007
The Bovine Products (Restriction on placing on the market) (England) (No. 2) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 SI 2007 No. 1755 were made on 19 June 2007 and came into force on 21 June.
They amend the Bovine Products (Restriction on Placing on the Market) (England) (No. 2) Regulations 2005 which implemented Commission Decision 2005/598/EC, prohibiting the placing on the market of certain products derived from cattle born or reared within the UK before 1 August 1996.
The amendment Regulations update references to certain pieces of Community legislation that appear in the Regulations. In particular, the amendment refers to Decision 2007/411/EC, which replaced Decision 2005/598/EC with effect from 14 June 2007 to allow the hides of prohibited UK cattle to be used for leather production. The restrictions on products derived from cattle born or reared within the UK before 1 August 1996 have not changed in any other way.
Separate, parallel legislation has been made in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Bovine Products (Restriction on placing on the market) (England) (No. 2) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 SI 2007 No. 1755 and Explanatory Memorandum is available on the Office of Public Sector Information website.
