Board Member, Food Standards Agency
Nancy Robson is the former Chair of the Food Standards Agency Consumer Committee and former member of the NCC's Consumer Councils Forum. She has wide experience of promoting consumer involvement in food and health issues at both policy and community level and has worked with public, private and voluntary organisations toward a better understanding of the heterogeneous needs of consumers. Nancy is a Public Partner Reviewer for NHS Quality Improvement Scotland, providing a consumer focus to Peer Review teams, assessing the performance of Health Boards in Clinical Governance and Risk Management, Food, Fluid and Nutrition Services and Screening. She was also a Member of the Maternity Services Project Group for the Clinical Standards Board NHS Scotland which developed and agreed the national Standards for Maternity Services. Nancy is currently a member of the National Programme Board for Nutritional Care in Hospitals.
Nancy has a long-standing interest in food and has worked as a consumer adviser to Quality Meat Scotland and an assessor for the Scottish Consumer Council's Healthy Choices Awards. She also worked to develop catering standards and award criteria for the Food Grading Company Ltd, a partnership between VisitScotland and Taste of Scotland, and advised on the training of assessors and the production of a consumer guide. Nancy acted as food critic and inspector covering a wide range of catering establishments for the Taste of Scotland award scheme.
As Deputy Chair of CHILDREN 1ST, a leading independent children's charity and sister organisation to the NSPCC, Nancy works to promote and protect the welfare and interests of children in Scotland. She supports the Charity's campaigns for change in favour of children through public policy and works locally to support the aims of the Charity. CHILDREN 1ST also runs the ChildLine helpline in Scotland on behalf of the NSPCC. Nancy is a Development Award Assessor for the Prince's Trust, meeting and assessing disadvantaged young people for financial assistance and support and promoting local stautory and community relationships that benefit young people. She is also a former Board Member of the Prince's Trust Highlands and Islands and a Millennium Awards Assessor and Adviser for the Prince's Trust.
