MICHAEL PARKER became the Chairman of King’s College Hospital NHS Trust in December 2002. He currently chairs the Finance Committee and is a member of the Performance and the Equality and Diversity Committee.
In 1997 Michael was appointed a Non-Executive Director at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust and became their Vice Chairman in 2000 until his appointment at King’s.
Michael studied Economics at Brunel University and Birkbeck College, University of London. He then went on to become a Chartered Certified Accountant and Registered Auditor.
Michael is a trustee of The Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) and is the Chair of the Board of Governor at the Royal College of Nursing Institute and an external advisor to the Audit Committee of the Royal College of Nursing.
Michael is the Treasurer for the Mary Seacole Memorial Statute Appeal, President of the Sickle Cell Society and an advisor to NHS London Provider Agency.
Michael has lectured at the University of East London in Finance (Masters in Business Administration) and Strategic Finance (Masters in Finance) and on undergraduate courses in Accounting Methodology, Accounting and Finance. He has also lectured in Accounting and Finance (Business Studies and Economics undergraduate courses) at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.
