Dr Ian Reynolds
Deputy Chair
Dr Ian Reynolds joined the FSA Board in April 2006 and was appointed its Deputy Chair in February 2007. He became Chair of the Board of the Meat Hygiene Service, the FSA's executive agency, in July 2007.
He has spent most of his career in healthcare, working for Cyanamid, Glaxo and Pitman-Moore on new product development and EEC regulatory affairs before leading organisations in both the public and the private sectors as Chief Executive of Nottingham Health Authority and then of Priory Hospitals Group.
He also served until May 2006 as Non-Executive Director of Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Strategic Health Authority where he also chaired the Audit and Finance Committees.
In Summer 2008, he became Chairman of the Greyhound Regulatory Board and an Independent Member of the Greyhound Board of Great Britain.
A Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, he gained a PhD in animal endocrinology and has published in the field of drug residues in meat.
