Sustainable Development Action Plan

This paper seeks the Board's endorsement of the Agency's Sustainable Development Action Plan (see Annexe I).

The UK Government's Sustainable Development Strategy commited all Government Departments and their Executive Agencies to produce and publish sustainable development action plans by December 2005. These plans will be monitored by the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC). The Agency draft Action Plan is closely based on the Agency's Strategic Plan.

The Action Plan has been revised to reflect comments received from stakeholders, most notably the SDC, in response to an informal consultation held during November and December 2005.

Once endorsed by the Board, the finalised Action Plan will be submitted to the SDC for scrutiny and reporting. It will also be submitted to the Parliamentary UnderSecretary of State for Public Health for information.
